When a hot tub loses power, heat, or circulation during freezing weather, quick communication matters. Keep the cover closed, make only the safe checks below, and contact Omaha Hot Tubs if normal operation cannot be restored promptly.

If power, heat, or circulation is lost during freezing weather and cannot be restored promptly, call or text Omaha Hot Tubs at 402-656-6695.

Freeze risk depends on the outdoor temperature, outage duration, starting water temperature, wind exposure, insulation, and whether circulation and heating continue. There is no single safe number of hours that applies to every spa or situation.

Built-in freeze protection can help only while the spa is powered and operating normally. A power loss or failed circulation system changes the situation.

01Short, Known Outage

Keep heat in and monitor

  • Keep the cover closed and secured.
  • Avoid opening the spa to check the water repeatedly.
  • Check power at the home and note the spa display.
  • Monitor for the return of power and normal operation.
  • Do not drain the spa or open equipment panels.
02Prolonged, Uncertain, or No Heat

Call Omaha Hot Tubs promptly

If the outage may continue, the spa is not heating, or circulation has stopped in freezing weather, call or text us. If the issue is with the home electrical supply, contact a qualified electrician.

Do not attempt improvised winterization, internal electrical work, or equipment repair.

Draining the shell does not remove all water from the spa.

Water can remain trapped in pumps, the heater, plumbing lines, and fittings. That hidden water can freeze and cause damage. Proper cold-weather shutdown is model-specific and requires complete water removal from the system.

Call Omaha Hot Tubs before draining or attempting winterization. Do not open the equipment area or perform internal work unless specifically directed by a qualified professional.

When power returns

Confirm a

Stay outside the spa while checking operation. If anything looks abnormal, stop and contact us.

  3. 03Confirm normal circulation resumes.

  5. 05Keep the cover closed while the spa recovers heat.
