Clean filters help maintain proper water flow, support water quality, and reduce unnecessary strain on your spa's circulation system.
Intervals vary with the spa series, model year, filter component, use, bather load, water conditions, and visible debris. Use this guide as a practical rhythm, then follow your Sundance® owner's manual when it is more specific.

Check the spa series, model, approximate model year, and physical layout. Current Sundance systems are not all the same, and names or configurations may change across model years.

A horizontal, two-piece assembly with a cleanable outer pleated cartridge and a finer center insert. The center insert is removed before chemical cleaning.
MicroClean® Ultra II
An interlocking two-stage assembly. The outer pleated cartridge catches larger debris; the inner insert handles finer filtration and follows its own replacement guidance.

Know What the Filter
Needs Today
Routine rinsing, occasional deep cleaning, and replacement solve different problems. Start with the least intensive care that fits the filter's condition and system instructions.
Rinse
Turn off spa power or use the manual's hold procedure. Remove the assembly as directed, then use a garden hose to rinse loose debris thoroughly, working between the pleats. Use lower pressure on a fine inner insert and reinstall the complete assembly correctly before normal operation.
Inspect and rinse about every 2–4 weeks—or sooner with heavy use, visible debris, or changing flow.Deep Clean
About every 3–4 months, or sooner when buildup warrants it, use an appropriate spa-filter cleaner on the cleanable pleated cartridge. Remove the finer center insert first. Follow the cleaner label for concentration, soak time, handling, and rinsing.
Do not use filter-cleaning chemicals on a MicroClean center insert. Rinse every cleaned part thoroughly before reassembly.Replace
Replace a component when it reaches the interval in your current manual, is damaged, remains dirty after proper cleaning, or continues to restrict flow. Current Sundance manuals commonly specify about 12–18 months for outer pleated cartridges and about 4–6 months for finer inserts, depending on the exact system.

Clean the Pleats,
Protect the Media
Use a garden hose and work methodically between each pleat. For deeper cleaning, Omaha Hot Tubs recommends Amerse Filter Cleaner or SpaPure Filter Cleaner. Follow the product label and rinse thoroughly so cleaner does not return to the spa.
Avoid pressure washers, dish soap, household cleaners, bleach, and harsh chemicals. Pressure can damage the media, and household products may damage the filter or create foaming and water-quality problems.

Why Clean Filters
Matter
A dirty or restricted filter can reduce water flow through the spa. That can make the circulation system work harder and, if the restriction is severe or prolonged, may contribute to premature pump wear or failure.
Keeping filters clean helps maintain proper flow and reduces unnecessary strain on the circulation system. A restricted filter can contribute to a flow-related message, but it is not the cause of every flow issue or pump failure.

Signs It May Be Time
to Replace a Filter
These signs mean the filter deserves a closer look; they are not automatic diagnoses. If cleaning does not restore the filter or flow, contact Omaha Hot Tubs.
- Damaged, frayed, or collapsed filter media
- Cracks or other physical damage
- Buildup or discoloration that remains after proper cleaning
- Noticeably reduced water flow
- Recurring flow-related messages
- A filter that no longer cleans up or remains restrictive
